Today, Yahsat, the UAE-based satellite operator announced the start of a long-term strategic partnership with UAE communications solutions company X SAT FZE. Under the agreement, X SAT is committed to capacity on Yahsat’s upcoming Ka-band satellite, Al Yah 3, to be launched later this year.
The two companies signed the agreement during the second day of CABSAT, the largest cable, satellite, broadcast, content and communications event for the Middle East, South Asia, and African regions.
Commenting on this latest announcement, Farhad Khan, Yahsat’s Chief Commercial Officer said, “We are delighted to be partnering with XSAT for our satellite broadband service, YahClick. This agreement is a great example of the strength of homegrown companies working together to provide improved services to customers. It also demonstrates our commitment to offering our customers flexibility, combined with the highest levels of technical support and extensive satellite broadband coverage.”
The new partnership forms part of YahClick’s Virtual Network Operator (VNO) service introduced last year. The benefits are expansive and include the ability for XSAT to leverage high-speed and economical capacity from YahClick’s network; full control and management of their allotted capacity and, an ability to commission, control and monitor their own remote sites, while designing and configuring their end-to-end IP network.
Gleb Larionov, X SAT FZE Managing Director, said, “We are thrilled to partner with Yahsat to strengthen our services to our customers in Africa. YahClick’s VNO service was the ideal solution, giving us flexibility and the ability to offer a range of bespoke services. Over the length of this agreement, we will utilize the benefits of high-speed capacity over Ka-band via Yahsat’s satellite fleet.”
As Yahsat focusses on expanding its coverage area across the African continent, the company is in talks with local service providers to reinforce the presence of YahClick and strengthen its customer care. The launch of Yahsat’s upcoming satellite will see the roll-out of YahClick, the company’s cost-effective satellite broadband service, to 19 new markets in Africa. YahClick, delivered through a modem and small satellite dish, is currently the number one satellite broadband service in Africa, providing subscribers access to uninterrupted, high-speed internet anywhere in the coverage area with in-country technical, operational, and customer care services.
